FG Grants N3bn To Film Industry

President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration has set aside about N3 billion to boost film industry in the country.

According to leadership, This was disclosed by Patricia Bala the Director-General, Nigeria film and video censor Board in Bauchi during sensitization workshop for film-makers in Northeast.


She explained that this followed FG initiation to boost the film industry towards self employment among restive youths as film makers already are undergoing training in Los Angeles.

Bala said there was no strict criteria to access the funds in specified Banks through Bank of industry adding that the amount to be enjoyed by Film Makers ranges from N5-N50 million.

“We are here in Bauchi to sensitize film-makers on project act initiate by FG through transformation agenda of Jonathan for film industry development considering fact that the industry has portray Nigeria’s image in good faith globally,” said Bala

she said the Board is committed on improving film production to international standards compared to developed countries explaining that government will not relent in its desire to provide jobs to teaming unemployed youths

The D-G use the medium to caution teenagers against hawking and watching on the streets for selling films especially children at the age of 12 years.

Also speaking on the occasion, the Zonal co-ordinator Edward Edion had describe the workshop as a milestone and timely towards film and economic development.

He explained that the sensitization is an opportunity to film-makers to explore their talents urging them to be quick in action to access the funds.
