Indian pop star and preacher, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, is being investigated for allegedly convincing approximately 400 men to have their testicles removed at a hospital he owned, telling them if they did it they would get to meet God [via The Independent].
One of Singh's former followers who underwent the castration seven years ago, Hans Raj Chauhan, has filed a petition to have an investigation done on Singh, who has a reported net worth of $40 million, on charges of grievous bodily harm.
Singh, whose social media bio is "spiritual Saint/philanthropist/versatile singer/allrounder sportsperson/film director/art director/music director/script writer/lyricist/autobiographer/DOP," had this to say of the pending investigation:
Such allegations disturb me, when I am doing good for humanity. Therefore me and my legal advisor are going to move the court challenging the allegations.
According to Sydney Morning Herald, Singh is already facing charges regarding conspiracy surrounding the murder of an investigative journalist in 2002, and several of his female followers say he sexually exploited them, but Singh has never been convicted.
