32-Year Old Student Scams Woman Of N3.44m
A 32-year-old student, Olugbenga Ajuwon, has been accused of scamming one Mrs Omolade Olasogba to the tune of N3.44 million.
The accused, who lives at No.31, Lawanson St., Idimu in Lagos State, has been dragged to a Surelere Chief Magistrates' Court and is standing trial on a two-count charge of stealing and obtaining by false pretences.
Ajuwon was alleged to have collected the money to process admission into a foreign university for the two children of Mrs Olasogba.
According ro the prosecutor, Sgt. Jimah Iseghede, he narrated that the accused committed the offences between June 21 and September 12, 2014 at the complainant's residence in Idimu area, a suburb of Lagos, saying that Iseghede a friend of Olasogba had introduced the accused to her.
He said that the friend had informed the woman that the accused could process admission for her children into David Tvildiani Medical University, Georgia, United States.
The complainant, Olasogba, then concluded the transaction with the accused and paid the sum of N3.44 million into the bank account of the accused. The accused also collected all necessary documents from the complainant.
According to the, the offences contravened Sections 285 and 312 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.F. Adeeye, however granted bail to the accused in the sum of N350,000 with 2 sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till April 21 for hearing.
